What is a CNC Bridge Saw?

Last Updated: 2026-01-08 16:57:27

A CNC bridge saw is an automatic stone cutting machine that uses a computerized controller to direct a carbide circular saw blade on a moving gantry ("bridge") to precisely cut marble, granite, quartz, ceramics, sintered stone, and other hard engineered stone at high speed from any direction and angle. An automatic bridge saw works with 4-axis, 4+1-axis, and 5-axis to create complex shapes, straight cuts, curves, outlines, sink cutouts, and edge profiling for products like countertops, tiles, and decorations.

I'm a skilled woodturner primarily crafting wooden bowls, vases, candlesticks, table legs, and similar items. I've always relied on a manual lathe for years, but after conducting research over the past few months, I finally decided to give an automated woodturning lathe (STL0810-2) a try. This meant sacrificing the hands-on pleasure of manual operation, but it also allowed me to experience the exceptional craftsmanship made possible by CNC automation. To be honest, this is a superbly crafted lathe, and its structure is constructed from cast iron featuring an exquisite surface finish. The addition of CNC technology has made woodturning easier, faster, and safer. However, CAD software left me (a beginner with little experience) feeling completely overwhelmed, requiring a steep and lengthy learning curve. Apart from that, every feature has served me well so far.

This Hypertherm plasma cutter delivers top-notch results when cutting both metal sheets and tubing—handling both clean and rusted materials with equal proficiency. During test cuts conducted over the past few days, slicing through 1/2-inch-thick stainless steel felt as smooth as a hot knife through butter, and cutting through 3/4-inch-thick carbon steel was also a breeze, albeit at a slightly slower pace. The only drawback is the price, which may be beyond the reach of some hobbyists and home users. This slows us down a little bit but it's worth every single penny.

This vertical milling machine features excellent design and superior build quality. I experimented with using it to machine molds out of aluminum, and the final results left me thoroughly satisfied. As for after-sales support, since I haven't encountered any malfunctions thus far, I am currently unable to offer an assessment of that aspect. I would also like to add a caveat: operating a CNC machining center does indeed entail a certain barrier to entry. Proficiency in CAD/CAM skills is a prerequisite, as this is essential for generating the G-code required to control the machine's operations. Of course, if you are not short on funds, you always have the option to purchase pre-made designs or hire a professional to handle the design job for you.
